Stanbrook Abbey

Date: Ongoing
Client: Clarenco

The Practice was appointed Clarenco to provide conservation expertise and architectural design input for the Grade II Listed Stanbrook Abbey in Callow End near Malvern, Worcestershire, which was vacated by the Benedictine Community of nuns in 2007. The proposal has converted the abbey into a hotel, wedding venue and conference facility. As well as works of restoration and internal conversion of the historic buildings the project included an extension to create a new arrival space, enlarged banqueting facilities and roof terraces that provide excellent views out over the surrounding landscape. The hotel received a Tripaadvisor “certificate of excellence” award in 2015.

“What an amazing place! We stayed for 2 nights and were completely blown away. Every door seems to lead to a secret or a story or another corridor to explore. I love the mix of old and new architecture, the candles in the cloisters after dark are so romantic. Definitely want to go again.”
